Velan Profile

Velan Inc. designs, manufactures and markets industrial valves worldwide. The company is a subsidiary of Velan Holding Co. Ltd.

The company offers products for use in various industries, including power generation, oil and gas, refining and petrochemicals, chemicals, pulp and paper, liquid natural gas (LNG) and cryogenics, mining and shipbuilding. It offers steel industrial valves used primarily in high-temperature or high-pressure applications, with industrial valve lines of gate, globe, check, ball, butterfly and engineered severe service valves made from carbon, alloy or stainless-steel, in sizes varying from 1/4” to 72” in diameter.

Products

Gate, Globe and Check Valves

Gate, globe and check valves constitute the major part of the company’s product line.

API 600 Cast Steel Gate, Globe, and Check Valves: The company manufactures valves, which are used in process industries (such as oil, chemical, petrochemical, refining, and pulp and paper) and power industries (such as nuclear, fossil fuel, and cogeneration power). Standards to which it casts steel valves conform include ASME B16.34, API 600, API 623 and API 594.

Stainless-steel Gate, Globe, and Check Valves: The company offers valves for use in corrosive applications in the petrochemical and related industries. Standards to which it casts stainless steel and alloy valves conform include ASME B16.34 and API 603.

API 602 Small Forged Gate, Globe, and Check Valves: The company offers valves for high performance in virtually any industrial application.

API 6D/ API 6A through Conduit and Double Expanding Gate Valves: The company offers valves built for minimum pressure drop for up-, mid- and downstream applications in accordance to API6D/API6A up to 48” and pressure classes up to ASME 2500.

Large Forged Pressure Seal and Bolted Bonnet Gate, Globe, and Check Valves: The company’s forged high pressure valves are used by the nuclear and fossil power generation industries, the U.S. Navy, and other industries with high pressure/temperature steam applications. It manufactures and supplies forged valves in sizes up to 24” using one-piece closed-die forged bodies for superior quality and performance.

Y-pattern Valves: The company’s high-pressure Y-pattern globe valves are used in power plants worldwide.

Knife Gate Valves: The company’s stainless steel conventional or bolted bonnet knife gate valves offer a high performance option for handling slurries in pulp and paper mills and other industries.

Proquip Dual-Plate Check Valves: This engineered product line extends from valves for cryogenics to high temperatures and pressures (ASME 2500), standard to specialty materials (monel, inconel, titanium) and sizes up to 60” for critical services. It is used primarily in the oil and gas industries.

API 6D/ API 6A Non Slam and Swing Check Valves: The company offer valves up to 60” and pressure classes up to ASME 2500 or API up to 10000 with cast or forged bodies for critical services to prevent reverse flow, as well as waterhammer.

Quarter-Turn Valves

Resilient-Seated Ball Valves: The company manufactures a range of Memoryseal ball valves with a self-relieving seat design for performance.

Securaseal Metal-Seated Ball Valves: The company’s Securaseal metal-seated ball valves are for severe applications, including high temperature, highly corrosive and/or abrasive media applications. Velan offers metal-seated ball valves for various niche markets, including HPAL mineral processing.

Coker Ball Valves: The company offers ball valves for delayed cokers, one of the applications in an oil refinery. These valves have been installed in well approximately 100 refineries worldwide.

Power Ball Valves: These high-pressure/high temperature ball valves help meet the power industry’s demand for quarter-turn products. Power ball valves are rugged, one-piece forged valves, designed to handle the steam isolation applications in nuclear and thermal power plants, as well as other steam applications.

API 6D/ API 6A Pipeline Ball Valves: The company sells an extended range of trunnion-mounted pipeline ball valves up to 64” in size, produced in Italy. These valves perform various standard and severe services, including cryogenic, offshore, sub sea, and underground.

Modular Double Block and Bleed Ball Valves: This includes valves with double trunnion balls in one body, complete with needle valve, designed with a standard or extremely compact face to face, suitable for offshore and subsea applications.

Torqseal Triple-Offset Butterfly Valves: These zero-leakage valves are built for long service life in critical services. They could handle cryogenics to high temperatures and pressures; and serve a range of environments, such as offshore oil platforms, fossil and nuclear power plants, and petroleum refineries.

Velflex High Performance Cryogenic Butterfly Valves: The company offers cryogenic butterfly valves used in the LNG industry.

Other Products

In addition to the primary product groups, the company offers:

Bimetallic Steam Traps: The company’s steam traps are used in a range of steam applications, including a high-pressure range thermal and nuclear power plants or aboard ships. The product range includes the Piping Kings, which combine a trap with two valves and a bypass for maintenance and installation.

Engineering Solutions: The company offers various ball valve solutions for various industries, such as ball control valves, choke valves, actuators and HIPPS systems.

Adareg Control Valves: These control valves are designed for severe service conditions. Adareg valves are used for cryogenic applications, such as in CERN, the major particle physics laboratory, where one finds temperatures down to -273 C. They are also used in other research and aerospace applications, as well as nuclear service.
